"It's Like Owning a Home, Without All the Hassles": Linda and Brad's Scottsdale Story

Some decisions take months of second-guessing. Others take just one Monday flight.

That's how fast it happened for Linda and Brad. On a Friday, they were on the phone with Adam, CEO of GoForth, still lukewarm on the idea because, let's be honest, nobody loves getting on a plane for a second home. By Monday, Brad was on a flight from Atlanta to Scottsdale for a single day, just to see The Rocks with his own eyes. He walked the property, called Linda, sent her a video, and that was that.

"I'd have to say it was probably one of our best decisions ever," Brad told us.

The One That Didn't Make the Cut

Before GoForth, Linda and Brad almost went a completely different direction. They'd looked at a fractional opportunity in Kiawah, South Carolina, a place they actually knew well, since they'd once owned a small townhome nearby. On paper, it looked promising. In person? Not so much.

The villa had an outdoor staircase, tiny rooms, and what Brad called a "ridiculous" bonus room off the laundry area, accessible only by ladder and technically marketed as a bedroom. "The minute we walked into the actual structure, we said, this isn't it," Brad remembers.

That on-site visit turned out to be the whole ballgame. It's the same instinct that sent Brad to Scottsdale for a single day before saying yes to The Rocks.

Why Scottsdale Won

Golf. Warmth. And flexibility that actually made sense for how they wanted to live.

Linda and Brad weren't chasing a flashy list of amenities. They wanted a place they could return to again and again and know exactly what they'd get. With four owners instead of six or eight, and up to 12 weeks of usage a year, The Rocks gave them room to actually build a rhythm: a week in spring, a stretch in fall, maybe more.

"It's pretty easy to schedule," Linda said. "Right now we just call Marian, and soon we'll be able to get on the calendar ourselves. I always used to think, ‘I hope I can get a week’, and now I know I can get a week whenever I want one. That makes a big difference."

And it's not just about scheduling. It's about knowing the place. Linda put it simply: "You know exactly what you're getting, and it's there every time."

A Different Kind of Vacation

Linda described something that a lot of high-achieving families will recognize instantly: the exhaustion of planning a vacation before you can even enjoy it.

"When we went to Spain, it was wonderful, it was great. But you don't relax, you've got to plan every activity out, and you don't know exactly if this is going to be okay... it's a lot of fun, but it's work."

The Rocks removed that work entirely. They know the restaurants (Jade Palace is a favorite). They know the golf courses. They know the hiking trails they discovered along the way, despite never having been hikers before. Every trip starts from a place of familiarity instead of a blank page.

"It's not work," Linda said. "It makes for a much more relaxing vacation. It's a completely different kind of trip than the ones we used to take."

Home, Minus the Hassle

Ask Brad to sum up ownership in 30 seconds, and he doesn't hesitate: "It's an easy decision because you have the advantage of owning a place that's very nice, without all the hassles. You know what you're getting, the flexibility is there, just as if you own a second home."

That phrase, without the hassles, comes up again and again. After owning that South Carolina villa, Brad and Linda knew exactly what it felt like to fully manage a second property."

"With the fractional share, you don't feel that way," Brad said. "You pick up the phone, you call somebody, and you don't have to get the worker out there and worry about being there when they want to come. That's really, really good. For me, that's huge."

What They're Looking Forward To

When we asked what excites them most as owners, the answer was refreshingly simple: knowing it's there.

"I equate it with owning a home, but without the hassles and without the price of a full home," Brad said.

They're already planning four trips to Scottsdale this year. And with GoForth's growing network of properties, Marbella has entered the conversation too, once the right group of friends is ready to make the trip.

A Decision They'd Make Again

Ask Linda and Brad if they'd do it all over again, and the answer comes without hesitation.

"We feel very comfortable recommending GoForth," Brad said. "That's a good decision."

It's the kind of endorsement that doesn't come from a script. It comes from four years of trips that actually felt like rest, restaurants they know by name, and a home that's exactly as they left it every single time.

For Linda and Brad, this was never really about square footage or amenities. It was about trading uncertainty for familiarity, swapping the work of vacation planning for the simple, recurring joy of a place that's already theirs. A home, minus the hassle. Twelve weeks a year, whenever they want it.
