When Matt Krieger, a Denver-based father of three, found himself staring at yet another frustrating vacation booking dead end, he knew something had to change. For years, his family had relied on timeshares and borrowed access to luxury properties, but the system was no longer working.

"As you start to rank your priorities in life, vacations for our family come pretty close to the top," Matt explains. "We spend a lot of our disposable time and income on vacations."

This prioritization was intentional—creating lasting memories with their children, now 17, 13, and 10.

But their approach to travel was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain.

Why Traditional Vacation Options Stopped Working

Matt's aunt had introduced the family to timeshares years earlier, teaching them the insider strategies that unlocked exceptional properties. Meanwhile, his parents' memberships with Exclusive Resorts and Inspirato occasionally provided access to additional luxury destinations.

"Over the last couple of years, a lot of those things have gotten a lot harder to do," Matt recounts with evident frustration. His retired parents now use all their exclusive resort days, while the Inspirato offerings "just didn't make as much sense" as their programs evolved.

Most concerning was that the timeshare resorts they had come to love began closing their doors. "We had gotten to two or three resorts that we loved...those resorts started putting restrictions on, and we were unable to get into them." Suddenly, booking their favorite destinations became a complicated puzzle rather than an exciting family tradition.

Matt found himself at a crossroads familiar to many families: stick with increasingly unreliable vacation methods, downgrade expectations, or find an entirely new approach. "To keep the lifestyle up that we wanted to with our vacationing, we had to find a different option."

Finding a Smarter Way to Vacation

The solution appeared unexpectedly while Matt was reading an article about fractional ownership models. The concept immediately clicked: luxury fractional home ownership without the full burden of a second home, access to multiple properties rather than being tied to just one location, and a straightforward approach to luxury family travel.

During his research, one company consistently rose above the others. "GoForth Global seemed like the one that was the most straightforward and made a lot of sense. It was easy, from what I could tell."

Unlike some impulsive vacation purchases, this decision warranted a thorough investigation. The Kriegers explored several options but encountered concerning reviews. "We had read some stuff online about some bad stories," Matt explains, adding that "the properties just weren't as nice as some of the properties that GoForth had."

Portfolio diversity particularly attracted them, a crucial factor for a family that values varied travel experiences. "We wanted to buy into something that had a little bit of a portfolio, and we could use some of the other properties as well. And that was not as prevalent in some of the other things that we looked at."

Even Exclusive Resorts, which he was familiar with through his parents' long membership, couldn't compete with what GoForth offers today. "The programs they were offering weren't very enticing. They weren't what they were 25 years ago when my parents got into it." As alternatives fell away through careful research, GoForth "just kept coming up and up, and it was appealing."

The path forward was becoming clear.

A Property That Felt Like Home

While initially exploring a Costa Rica property with GoForth, the Kriegers ultimately discovered a share available in Scottsdale, Arizona - a location that already held a special place in Matt's heart.

"That property I had been going to for about the last 15 years with my dad and my brothers," he reveals, describing annual trips that had already created years of memories. "I was very, very familiar with the property, really loved the property, loved the location. Our family just happens to go down to that area once or twice a year, and so it really kind of fits well."

This overlap of past traditions and future possibilities created an immediate emotional connection. While Matt knew the property intimately, his wife "had been down there once, and it was 15 years ago," making GoForth's willingness to fly her and two of their children to preview the property especially valuable in their decision-making process.

The experience confirmed what Matt already sensed—this property could become a place where his children would create new memories in a location already significant to their family story.

Why Trust Made All the Difference

What separated GoForth from other options the Kriegers explored wasn't just property quality or locations—it was the human element. Their journey began with Adam,  GoForth’s VP of Sales, who happens to live in Denver, allowing for face-to-face conversations that built genuine trust.

Throughout the process, Matt was struck by the absence of high-pressure sales tactics. "There was never really any pressure," he emphasizes. Even during their property visit, when GoForth hosted them for dinner in Scottsdale, Adam made it clear: "If this isn't for you, then don't feel like you have to do this when we get back to Denver."

This transparency extended through closing—"The close process was very simple"—and into their ownership experience. Their property manager, Marion, has continued to add a personal touch, even texting well-wishes as they headed to a recent stay.

"They've been excellent to work with so far. I don't have anything negative to say about the entire process. It's been great."

Building a Family Legacy Through Travel

For the Kriegers, their GoForth purchase represents something fundamentally different from financial speculation. "We don't look at this as an investment at all," Matt states. "For us, it was really about vacationing."

This perspective stems from years of observing the hidden challenges of traditional second home ownership.  "My parents have a second home, so I've watched from afar the complete pain in the butt a second home can be. And so, for us, this was about a lifestyle decision that enabled us to vacation in a luxurious way and have some stake in property ownership, which was important to us, but at the same time not have any of the headaches that go along with the process."

The Kriegers have already integrated their Scottsdale property into family traditions. They plan to return for Thanksgiving, when the desert climate offers relief from Colorado's early winter. Their 17-year-old son, who may be attending college nearby, has already spotted the advantages, though Matt laughingly acknowledges that there will be limits.

Looking ahead, they're exploring the broader horizons GoForth offers, eyeing visits to Costa Rica or Hawaii homes next summer. The flexibility particularly appeals to them: "Whether you want to use the property, invest in it, or play the exchange game, like we are, you can do it all—it’s very flexible."

Their satisfaction has become a long-term commitment. "I've told Adam...there's a 10-year lifespan with this. I said, 'listen, we'll be talking again in 10 years,'" Matt shares. "We're hopefully going to be talking about two of them."

For the Krieger family, GoForth has provided exactly what they sought—an innovative alternative to second-home ownership that allows them to spend quality time together in beautiful surroundings and create memories.

"We're completely on board," Matt concludes with certainty. "I think we would be huge advocates to anybody that's looking to do this, to tell them, I think this is a really smart way to go about this."
